Q: How did you get into the fashion industry?
A: By remembering that fashion fades, but style lasts forever. I have always had a thing for style and wanted to model for as long as I could remember; but never took the opportunity for some reason. One day while in the mall I noticed a casting for models I put my doubts aside and I decided to sign up. I got a call back for an audition and photoshoot within that week. I went to the audition and gave it all I had…I haven’t looked back since!
Q: What inspires your style?
A: As a college student, I tend to go for cute and comfy. If I take my time and do it right I go for the fly not too flashy look. My daily style depends on my mood for that day ... Im like one of those people who could pick out an outfit the night before, wake up and still spend an hour looking for something to wear the next morning. I like different because I believe that I can manipulate any look. One of my favorite fashion designers is the timeless Coco Chanel from her perfume to her handbags, lawd!
Q: What advice would you give to someone trying to get his or her foot in the door?
A: Honestly, make sure that this is something you are passionate about and PRACTICE!! Perfect your craft, understand it, enjoy it, read it, eat it, sleep it… Eventually you will learn how to turn your passion into profit. Be original and that is what will set you apart; No one can do you better than you. Oh, and understand that yes will not always be the answer but no is never an option.
Q: What projects are you working on (that you can share)?
A: I am finally toward the end of the process in building my personal website/online portfolio and lifestyle blog. Those will both be coming very soon; I just have to finalize a few more things first. I thought about planning a tour for 2016. Any cities you recommend? Until the website is up and running I will be updating social media regularly with the newest information. Oh, and before I forget; I will be searching for 10 models (possibly more) for a styling session opportunity to enhance their professional fashion portfolio. This session will be sponsored by a great designer and friend from New Jersey who will be traveling with her team all the way to Atlanta, GA. I have a few other things that I wish I could, but unfortunately I am unable to share. I just thank God for the success of each year. so yeah, definitely stay on the look out for updates on my social media (@ayeshiaa on most sites).
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A: Oh, wow! They say you never know what the future holds. I say they not seeing right. In five years I see myself and my family wealthy, healthy, and happy as hell(this will probably be changed lol). Still very ambitious of course, I see myself established in the fashion industry. I see a degree in Management and Marketing being accomplished within that short period. I see myself successfully managing and marketing my very own mentoring program. I will have put my mama and them in a more calming and comforting environment. In five years, I will be able to say that I changed the game and showed the world better than I could tell them. ! In five years I can say that I made myself, parents, and siblings proud, that I kept my promises and never gave up!
