Kevin Hart Explains Why He Won’t Take on Gay Roles

No gay. No pay.

He’s the current king of comedy, and has seen himself top the box office charts several times in the past year with his many hilarious performances, but despite his hunger to remain a constant presence on the big screen Kevin Hart reveals that there’s one particular character he refuses to play and for various reasons.

Playing a homosexual man isn’t in the stars for the budding actor anytime soon, and the decision comes thanks to a previous role he turned down years before his career really kicked off.

The role - bi-curous soldier Alpa Chino from 2008’s Tropic Thunder which was played by Brandon T. Jackson.

During a recent visit to the popular radio talk show The Breakfast Club on New York’s Power 105. 1, the star, who was doing promotion for his newest comedy The Wedding Ringer, dished on the part given Jackson and why he passed on it.

"The dude, he was doing a lot of stuff in the draft that I read," he told the radio station. "It was real flagrant."

Hart was then asked would he ever consider a possible gay role in the future, and in return, said no.

"I can’t," he said. "Not because I have any ill will or disrespect, but because I don’t think I’m really going to dive into that role 100 percent, because of insecurities about myself trying to pay that part. Does that make sense?"

Despite his personal feelings, Hart let it be known he has no issues with the gay community during his interview. "To the gay community, I respect and appreciate everything you do," he said. "As people, I love you."
